Panthenol
Formula context
Panthenol is the alcohol analogue of pantothenic acid. In cosmetic formulas it behaves as a humectant, binding water, and as a conditioning agent contributing to how skin and hair feel after use.
It is common in haircare specifically because of how it affects the feel and manageability of hair — Amplified Glow discloses it in both conditioners and describes it in exactly those terms.
It also appears in the Charcoal and Green Tea Facial Cleanser and the Copper Peptide Renewal Cream. In a rinse-off cleanser its contribution is limited by contact time, which is a general point about rinse-off products rather than a criticism of this one.
What the evidence can and cannot establish
Panthenol's humectant and conditioning behaviour is well characterised, and its use in cosmetics is long established and uncontroversial.
That does not extend to any therapeutic claim. Panthenol appears in some products regulated as drugs; its presence in a cosmetic does not carry those products' claims across. The Amplified Glow products disclosing it are cosmetics.
Claim limitations
- No Amplified Glow product publishes a panthenol concentration.
- Panthenol appearing in some drug-regulated products does not transfer those claims to a cosmetic containing it.
- Nothing here claims panthenol heals, repairs tissue, or treats any condition.
- In a rinse-off cleanser, contact time limits what any conditioning ingredient can contribute.
